Don't Sign Anything New Until November 29

Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio, the sign of other people's money, from October 24 to November 13, 2026. What to sit on, what to chase, and what to do if the deal won't wait.

Let me save you some money.

On October 24, Mercury turned retrograde. It stays that way until November 13. Then it spends until November 29 crawling back over the same ground. Astrologers call that part the shadow.

That gives you five weeks. Five weeks where contracts get misread, emails go to the wrong person, launches fizzle and deals you thought were done come back from the dead.

Mercury rules contracts, communication, technology, transport and trade. In other words, it rules the plumbing of every business on earth. When it goes retrograde, the plumbing backs up.

But this one is worse than usual for people with money. Here's why.

Why this one hits your wallet

This retrograde is in Scorpio.

Scorpio is the sign of other people's money. Debt. Investors. Tax. Inheritance. Joint accounts. Mergers. The money that belongs partly to somebody else.

So this isn't a general "everything's a bit glitchy" retrograde. It lands squarely on loans, investor agreements, tax filings and the private conversations around them.

Expect details in the fine print to be missed. Expect old deals and old creditors to come back. And expect something somebody was hiding to come out.

The retrograde isn't a stop sign. It's a review period. And review is where a lot of lost money gets found.

Sit on these until November 29

  • Any new contract you could sign later. Especially investment agreements, loans, partnership deeds and anything that runs for years.
  • Launches. New products, new companies, big announcements. Things launched in a retrograde have a habit of needing a relaunch.
  • Big technology purchases. New systems. New software contracts. New phones for the whole team.
  • New money. Talk to the new investor all you like. Sign the term sheet after the shadow.

Do these now. They all start with "re"

Here's the good news nobody tells you. A retrograde is the best time of the year for anything that starts with "re". And that's a long, profitable list.

  • Renegotiate. Your debt. Your supplier terms. Your own rate. Revisiting a deal is exactly what this period is for.
  • Renew. Existing contracts and existing relationships renew beautifully right now.
  • Recover. Chase every old invoice. Call your former clients. Old money comes back in a retrograde more often than new money shows up.
  • Review. Pull out every Scorpio document you own. Loans. Shareholder agreements. Insurance. Your tax position. Read them.
  • Rehire. Bringing back somebody good is a far better bet right now than hiring a stranger.

The deal won't wait? Do these four things

Business doesn't stop for the planets. Sometimes you have to sign. Fine. Before November 29, do this:

  • Read the whole thing twice. On two different days.
  • Get somebody who did NOT negotiate it to check the numbers.
  • Add a review clause, a break clause or a ninety-day check-in.
  • Confirm every key term in writing, separately from the contract.

What it means for your sign

Scorpio, it's in your sign. Your image, your brand and the way you present yourself are all up for review. Taurus, it lands on your partners and your biggest clients. Leo, it's property and your home base. Aquarius, it's your career and your reputation. Gemini and Virgo, Mercury rules your signs, so you'll feel the slowdown more than most.
